Exhibition: Mexican Mask Collection
Museum of Discovery, 500 President Clinton Avenue
An exhibit of Mexican culture and history is presented by the Museum of Discovery. Museum educators present programs for students of all ages, adhering to state curriculum frameworks within the exhibit space, and the Museum also offers an annual summer camp featuring Mexico and its food, language, history, and cultures. The masks of Guerrero exhibit features masks from the museum’s permanent collections.
Hours: Monday–Saturday, 9am-5pm and Sunday, 1-5pm.

Exhibition: In Search of Pancho Villa: The Mexican Punitive Expedition of 1916
MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History, 503 E 9th Street
The Mexican Punitive Expedition of 1916 was an attempt by American forces to capture General Francisco “Pancho” Villa following his attack on a small border town and military camp at Columbus, New Mexico on March 16, 1916. The attack highlighted a long history of animosity between the United States and Mexico dating back to the Mexican War of 1846-47 and the Occupation of Veracruz in 1914. Villa proved elusive to the American forces and President Woodrow Wilson issued the first mobilization of National Guard forces in U.S. history as General John J. Pershing pursued Villa into Mexico with an army of 11,000 men. Finally, on January 12, 1917, President Wilson ordered U.S. troops out of Mexico. Although Villa was never captured, the training received by American soldiers provided a valuable introduction to modern military techniques and for our nation’s rapidly approaching involvement in World War I.

Laura Terry Explores the Southern Landscape (Exhibit)
Historic Arkansas Museum
Natural Wonders: Paintings and Drawings by Laura Terry is presented in conjunction with the Arkansas Arts Council (AAC), an agency of the Department of Arkansas Heritage. This exhibit was created with resources identified in the Arkansas Artist Registry, a program of AAC.
Laura Terry’s paintings capture what she calls “ghosts,” or aspects of the Southern landscape that she believes often go unnoticed. She says, “There is no need to search far for these natural wonders, no need to look beyond the garden.” Terry borrows imagery from the natural world and infuses her painting with rich colors and textures. Originally from Georgia, Terry is an assistant professor in architecture at the Faye Jones School of Architecture at the University of Arkansas where she has worked since 1998.
Historic Arkansas Museum is open 9am-5pm. Monday through Saturday, 1-5pm on Sunday. Admission to the galleries and parking are free; tours of historic grounds are $2.50 for adults, $1.00 for children under 18, $1.50 for senior citizens.

Join us at for the kick-off of The Haunted Evening Tour, a first of its kind exploration of some the most haunted places in Little Rock and North Little Rock.
The tour will depart from the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History, purported to be one of the most haunted places in the South.
During the two hour adventure, visitors will be schooled on the funeral customs of the 19th Century before being whisked away on a tour of some of the city's most haunted locations. A visit with real paranormal investigators will conclude the evening.
