10 Things to Love About the Little Rock Farmers Market
With so much happening each week at the Little Rock Farmers Market, we thought we’d share some of our personal favorites – we think they might become some of your favorites too!
Each Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., May through the last Saturday in August, the best in fresh produce, artisan crafts and local vendors come together at the Little Rock Farmers Market.
Located in the River Market east and west pavilions, in the heart of downtown Little Rock, It’s surrounded by local businesses, dozens of restaurants and free weekend parking. With so much happening each week at the Little Rock Farmers Market, we thought we’d share some of our personal favorites – we think they might become some of your favorites too!
1) Farm-Fresh Produce
Sponsored by the Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Little Rock Farmers Market features farm-fresh produce from farms throughout the state offering produce as diverse as bok choy and strawberries and everything between.
2) Local Meats
There’s way more than just fruits and veggies for sale. The market is the place to go for locally farmed and processed meats. On any given Saturday you’ll find chicken, beef, and pork.
3) Locally Prepared Foods
From jams and jellies, both savory and sweet, to sauces, pickles and honey, the Little Rock Farmers Market boasts a wide selection of cottage industry local goods. You’ll also find a heaping selection of locally made granolas, sweet treats and even freshly made kettle corn and pork rinds each Saturday morning!
4) Handmade Arts & Crafts
Our artisan crafters stay busy throughout the year creating unique pieces of jewelry, art and decorative items at the Little Rock Farmers Market!
5) SNAP & DUFB
Many produce vendors at the market accept SNAP benefits (look for the signage at their booths). SNAP tokens can be purchased at the Little Rock Farmers Market Manager tent in the center of the market. The Little Rock Farmers Market is also a proud participant in the Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB) program where patrons can have up to $20 worth of SNAP tokens matched for free to use at the market.
6) Synergy Saturdays
Not just a place to get healthy produce, the Little Rock Farmers Market is a place to focus on all aspects of health. The Market also hosts Synergy Saturday, a weekly wellness event that includes free health screenings, health and wellness information and resources, and free Medicare consultation from licensed insurance professionals.
7) 2nd Saturdays
On the second Saturday of each month, community partners of the Little Rock Farmers Market are featured for special programming events from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
8) Master Gardeners
The Little Rock Master Gardeners set up shop to give advice and answer questions about plants and home gardens. Be on the lookout for the free seedlings they often give away!
9) Entertainers
The Little Rock Farmers Market is a market first and foremost, but there’s always some form of entertainment. We host a variety of acts from dance to acoustic instrumentalists, even brass band performances! The Little Rock Farmers Market Facebook page is the place to go for updates on special guest performers.
10) FREE PARKING!
Parking is always free for Little Rock Farmers Market patrons. Visitors are invited to park in the lot behind the market as well as in the River Market Parking Deck at 2nd and River Market Avenue. Special VIP parking is available for senior and handicapped individuals. Just enter the parking lot off Ottenheimer and President Clinton Avenue, and the parking attendants at the kiosk will be happy to direct you to a nearby and accessible parking spot.
