Top Dog-Friendly Destinations in Little Rock
Whether you’re coming for a day trip or a long weekend, we’ve got plenty for you to do with your four-legged friends.
No one needs to tell us that Little Rock is one of the most dog-friendly vacation spots in the United States, but when Expedia rates it one of its top such destinations, we like to tout that.
Little Rock is home to Bark Bar, Arkansas’s first indoor/outdoor dog park, bar and restaurant. You don’t have to bring a dog with you, but it sure does make it more fun. Have a cold brew while Fido plays with other dogs in the yard and then grab a snack for both of you. Make sure to bring along your pup’s vaccination records.
There are two wonderful off-leash dog parks in Little Rock, too. The first is Paws Park at Murray Park. Two separate areas are available, depending on the size of your dog, and best of all, it’s very shady. Let your dog sniff all the trees while you relax on a bench in the shade. Like it a little sunnier? Then MacArthur Unleashed Dog Park is where you’ll want to go. There are rocks for climbing, water features and a separate area for the little pups.
Want to have some dinner, but don’t want to leave your pup at home? Little Rock has many places you can take your dog. They include Dugan’s Pub, several U.S. Pizza Co. locations and many more. Check them out here.
Outdoor activities for both humans and their best friends are all over the central Arkansas area. Pinnacle Mountain State Park has some easy and hard trails, and our crown jewel is The Arkansas River Trail, a 17-mile loop around the beautiful body of water flowing through the heart of Little Rock. There are many places to start and stop, so choose the perfect distance for you and your friend. And always remember – dogs need hydration, too! Make sure to bring along some water for your exercise partner.
Finally, if you need a night off from entertaining non-humans, Little Rock has a couple of the best doggie daycare/boarding facilities. Wags and Whiskers has multiple rooms for different-sized, different-aged dogs and they are open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hounds Lounge will also keep your fur babies entertained and are open seven days a week. Always remember to bring those vaccination records!
