Clinton Island

Clinton Island is a feature in Riverfront Park. The island is approximately eight acres of a sand bar with cottonwood, black willow trees, sedges and grasses and other like plants that can tolerate the extremes of droughts and flooding. In addition to being surrounded by the Arkansas River and its backwaters, there are sloughs in the middle of the island that add a unique look to the sandbar. It adds a unique compliment to the nearby Bill Clark Wetland.

Already accessible by the link of Cindy Coates Miller Bridge to the Arkansas River Trail, the sand bar is slowly being transformed with a trail that introduces explorers to various terrain elevation changes, stands of trees and sloughs with aquatic plants, as well as the surrounding views of downtown skyline, Clinton Bridge and Clinton Presidential Park.
